Your Orlando septic tank and system is a big investment, you can easily save money with regular septic tank pumping and maintenance. The first step is to understand how our septic tank works.
An alternative to the conventional septic system is the aerobic treatment unit (ATU), basically a small municipal sewage plant that can be used in almost any situation. The Aerobic system uses an environment which is rich in oxygen for organisms to reduce organic waste.
The Aerobic system has a pre-treatment tank where waste water enters, including solids, grease, oils and foreign materials. This significantly reduces any solids from entering the aerobic chamber, reducing clogs and malfunctions. The wastewater then enters a chamber where oxygen is forced into the system, increasing the beneficial bacteria which breaks down and consumes any solids.
Any solids not consumed by the bacteria enters a clarifying chamber where they settle and the water receives final treatment with a highly concentrated tablet form of chlorine when it is moved into the pumping chamber.
The end result is a superior effluent quality which can be discharge into the leach field or even directly to the surface, reducing ground pollution.
Although the initial investment for the Aerobic system may be a little higher than the conventional system there are several advantages: A higher level of treatment, protects the precious water where conventional systems are not working properly, reduces ammonia discharge, only requires a small drain field and may extend the life of the drain field.
