If your Central Florida home or business has a septic system, you probably know how important it is to regularly have your septic tank pumped and routine maintenance performed.
Having your septic tank pumped out on average costs $379 according to Home Advisors, going all the way up to $885. Which is a bargain if you compare that to how much it costs to replace the system, anywhere from $5,000 to over $10,000.
All the waste water ends up in the septic tank. This is where it is naturally separated, solids sinking down to the bottom (sludge), oils and fats rise to the top (scum), and what’s left goes in the middle. This middle layer is what is supposed to leave the tank and go to the drain field. The rest builds up and will need to be pumped out.
If you forget to get your septic tank pumped or it goes waste is allowed to remain in the tank too long, it can start to seep into the drain field. Then the problems start, foul odors, waste water starts backing up into the house, or drains that are slow, just to name a few.
If your drain field is compromised, it usually needs to be replaced, which can cost upwards of $5,000 to even $10,000!
