A few week’s ago we talked about a very common question we get here at Orlando Septic Services, “Why is my septic system not working properly?”

A common one is the pipe coming from the house into the septic tank gets clogged. Other reasons include:

Blocked Inlet baffle to the septic tank. It is easy for this to get blocked, which is why it is important to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Luckily, this is a pretty easy and low cost repair.

Clogged effluent filter. This typically happens when the septic tank is receiving too much water in a short period of time. Resulting in water surfacing near the drainfield, sewage backing up the bathtub, or toilets not flushing correctly. The effluent filter may need to be relates or cleaned off.

The drain field is failing. This is by far the worse scenario, it could possibly mean the end of the road for your drain field. If it is saturated with water, it can be dried out and restored. Otherwise, it may be to capacity with waste and not able to accept any more. At which it may need to be dug up and replaced.

Most of these problems can be avoided all together with routine septic pumping and inspections. After all, where would all your waste water go if not into the septic tank.  The low cost of having the your septic tank pump can end up saving you thousands of dollars, compared to having to get the drain field replaced or other serious problems.

Preventative maintenance is always the best approach for the longevity of your septic tank. If you’re looking for a company you can trust and rely on, you’ve come to the right place!
