Some Central Florida septic tank pumping, lift station, and grease tap cleaning, may be illegally dumping! From grease, raw sewage to partially treated waste. This ends up costing everyone, the restauranteurs, tax payer, and home owner.
“The improper storage and disposal of raw sewage can harm the health of humans, wildlife and the environment,” said Department of Protection (DEP) division of Law Enforcement Director.
A law enforcement agent with DEP arrested a man at a local septic tank service for “improperly disposing more than 150 gallons of raw sewage and violating the Florida Litter Law, a third degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a fine up to $5,000.”
Many home and business owners don’t realize the high cost to properly dispose of waste in a legal and environmentally safe manner. “Illegal solid and hazardous waste disposal is a primary focus of DEP’s Division of Law Enforcement as illegal dumping can adversely affect underlying aquifers, which are the source for more than 90 percent of the state’s drinking water supply. ”
