Orlando Septic Services is proud to be part of keeping Central Florida’s environment clean. There is a delicate balance between surface and ground water in the Orange, Seminole, and Volusia county areas and keeping our water supply clean and safe is one of our top priorities.
Environment Concerns
A group of Senate committee chairmen gathered together last month and agreed to endorse filing a bill to provide almost $380 Million dollars a year to improve or remove septic tanks to groundwater and springs.
Florida has over 700 natural springs, 33 of which are ‘first magnitude’ springs, the largest springs, discharging water 100 cubic feet per second. Springs in the Orange, Seminole and Volusia counties flow into the St. Johns River, Lake Apopka, Rock Springs Run, and the Wekiva River. Scientists have expressed their concern about these springs being clogged with algae because of the overabundance of nitrogen seeping into the groundwater from septic tanks and fertilizer.
“Our water quality is an essential ingredient of the future of our state,” said Senator David Simmons, Republican from Altamonte Springs, “Unless we go ahead and protect those water resources right now you are going to see that our economy is significantly adversely affected.”
