In one particular case being prosecuted was published in The Eagle, “After checking out the tank, the father and son told the man his two septic tanks needed to be pumped out and estimated the cost would be $275 and then returned with a service price of $2,025, according to a probable cause statement for the accused scammers, who’ve been charged with exploitation of an elderly individual.”

If your septic system isn’t maintained, you might need to replace it, costing you many thousands of dollars. To prevent buildup, sludge and floating scum you will need to do periodic pumping of the septic tank. You should do the pumping every 3-5 years.
